However, they do prevent you from changing your avatar while you are muted. We’re trying to get a screenshot of the actual message, to show you exactly what it looks like when you go to your profile page while muted.
In addition, Etsy is now using the ability to ban people from chat, but we’re still looking into the details, since the procedure seems to have been hastily implemented, and is unclear to those affected.

Last night sellers discovered that an XML feed on Etsy’s API revealed the first and last names of all Etsy sellers and their latitude and longitude. For those of you who don’t know what an XML feed looks like, here is screen capture of part of the feed in question:

Despite it being late at night on a weekend, within an hour of being notified about this security hole, Etsy admin removed the first and last name and the latitude and longitude fields from the feed.

Let them know in this thread if you prefer radio buttons or dropdown.
They haven’t been able to implement a search by place and zipcode. If you think it is a high priority, please post here.
Here is the official word:

Hey There! nice to meet you!
My name is Marcos, I’m helping Jared and Drew in the visualization team. I’m the person currently responsible for Geolocator 3.
First of all, thanks a ton everyone for all the feeback you sent here:
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5177073&page=1
Since then, there’s been a ton of updates and bug fixes in the background based on your feedback.
Basically here’s what happened:
* added search selection for materials, tags and sellers.
* fixed image flickering bugs
* added timeout for images not loading
* added deep linking / browser back button ability
So I’ve prepared 2 flavours for search selection, please let me know which one you think is more elegant:
*radiobuttons
http://www.etsy.com/geo3.php?q=0
*dropdown
http://www.etsy.com/geo3.php?q=1
The only one thing I couldn’t implement was being able to search for a place name / zip code. Sorry!!!
Unfortunately that’s a deeper database issue we need to sort out first. If you want to see it happening (I know most of you do, and I want it too), please drop a line in the comments here. Maybe we can get our DB engineers to re prioritize that request!

Hurray! After many requests, admin has changed the names of some of the forum sections for clarity and ease of navigation.
“Help” is now “Site Help”
“Buying and Selling” is now “Crafting and Business”
“Street Teams” is now “Etsy Teams”
“Promotions and Critques” is now “Promotions”
“Ideas”, “Bugs”, and “Etc” remain unchanged.
Tag lines for forum sections have also been updated to relect the section contents. Read about all the details here.
Edit: For those of you wondering what happened to Critiques, Stella says they should now go under “Crafting and Business”.

Due to an overwhelming response of entries, Etsy admin has not been able to finish judging all entries yet.
Check the forums for an update.

RobWhite graduated from “Etsy Trainee” status today, and is now a full-fledged member of Etsy’s Community Team. Rob describes his role as “Etsy’s Hall Monitor,” which means if you have a forum problem, he’s your man. You can either convo him or email him at robwhite@etsy.com.
Lauren (Stellaloella) annouced Rob’s graduation in this thread.

In response to a frustrated member seeking answers to several rule-related issues Rob (Rokali) states:
Please don’t expect 100% consistent enforcement of every single rule. This isn’t humanly possible. I hope we’ll be at 99.9% soon, though.

EtsyLabs is currently compiling a huge list of resources that will soon be available to everyone. If you don’t mind sharing, feel free to post in this thread. They are looking for Etsy supply sellers and general suppliers of everything you can think of.
