No More Autocharged Bills — For Now

Etsy bills are no longer being autocharged because a new payment processor system is in the works. The following quotes are gathered from RD’s comments in the fora.

Unfortunately, we’re temporarily unable to auto-charge bills, as we’re working on switching to a new and bigger payment processor.

You can still pay your bills manually, but the auto-charge will not be running this month.

If you want to pay your bill before it gets larger, you can do so manually by going to Your Etsy -> Your Etsy Bill, then click “Pay Now” under the unpaid bills section.

There will be no late payment penalties during months that are not auto-charged.

We ARE still going to autocharge — this is not something that we are going to stop doing. If we were making a drastic shift like that, we would have announced it.

The current lag time in autocharging is temporary and will be resolved as soon as possible.

This latest news item is a perfect example of why I started this site. Personally, I believe that issues surrounding billing should receive high-profile attention. What could be more important to sellers than when a potentially multi-hundred dollar charge will hit their credit cards? I know I had to swallow an ugly lump in my throat when I realized that my three largest bills yet (the showcase really adds up!) were not taken care of. Ouch!

Welcome to the Unofficial Etsy News Network

Welcome, thanks for stopping by! This blog will attempt to gather news useful to Etsy.com’s buyers and sellers in one organized, discussion-friendly place.

Please feel free to navigate using the categories and archives you’ll see in the sidebars. As more news is posted, those lists will flesh out.

This site is not affiliated with Etsy except that its authors are sellers and buyers there. We will always provide a source link for each news article, and please rely on the original sources for your business decisions. Comments are very loosely moderated, and the authors and editors of UEN do not make any guarantees about accuracy of statements made in the comments by visitors and guests.

One last thought: If/when an Etsy-sanctioned news and announcements vehicle becomes available, this site may no longer be needed. However, there’d still probably be plenty of room for an unofficial site, since there are a lot of news items that are important to sellers, but that the team doesn’t see fit to publicize. But, if Etsy’s admins did come up with something so perfect that we’re unneeded, then I guess that’s a good thing. At that point, we may continue in a limited capacity, change directions, or be no more! We’ll see, but until then, many thanks for reading.
