haim says:
Yea, sorry about taking the forums down without warning. While we were doing the convos work we found an issue effecting the forums server itself. I pulled the forums down for a bit so we could do a quick hardware fix.

Also yes I did try and write up my first post correctly. (Affect, NOT, etc) cause some people were unwilling to let my poor little mistakes slide… ;)

Convos going down tonight, August 17

haim says:
We have to take down the convo system for work this evening. The estimated downtime will be 2-3 hours. This will only affect the internal convo system, and will NOT affect email notifications for sales.- H

The Official announcement:

Hi all,

Our master database is being hit with an unusually large amount of load, and the site has been running poorly today because of it.

We’re at work trying to offset this load now, but it may take the better part of the day to do so.

For up-to-the-minute news on the situation, check out the bugs forum.

We apologize for the inconvenience — we’re doing all we can to get things back on track.

and here:

RevolvingDork says:
The master database has been running under increased load since this morning, causing various site functions to slow or break. These could/will include the flash applications, listing an item, browsing the site, searching the forums, and other related functions to behave erratically.

We’re looking into the source of this load now, and once we find it we’ll be able to get it back to normal levels.

It will likely be a rough day as we figure this out. We may be taking the site down for short periods of time when the load gets too bad to let things get back to an operable speed.

More as it happens…
