In this Storque article, Etsy advised that they have released an update which will make it easier to flag an item on Etsy. If you notice an item listing that violates Etsy’s site policies, you can “flag” it to notify the Etsy Support admin who work on Content. Previously, the “Report this item to Etsy” link would lead you to contact Support by email; now the link leads to a simple form you can fill out and submit right on Etsy.
Here is the related forum thread.

So now it’s more efficient on our end - what about their end?
I used to keep copies of my flag emails so I knew when and how often I had flagged something. Now I’ve got a bookmark file in my favourites just for flagged items - one so far - and it was indeed MUCH easier to do. We’ll see how long it takes to get some action - the one I flagged is a no-brainer (a self-declared vintage/nonhandmade item listed in a handmade category). And I’d flagged it before.

On their end I think it will basically be the same. The form we see just generates an email, at least that is the way the “report this post” form works in the forums.
But it is an improvement on the user end because many people use web-based emails and they still have their browser set to open mailto links in outlook, which they always called an Etsy bug. (it’s really not Etsy’s fault, but most people never change that setting on their browser) Anyway this method will be easier for them.
The one downside I see is that there is no way to report an item while logged out or for unregistered users. Which means if you aren’t an Etsy member and see someone on Etsy has ripped off your photos or text, you have to register an account just to complain about it!

Well, they have revamped the “Contact” page with a pretty comprehensive list of email addresses, and it has a section right on that page about intellectual property issues. If I were new to a site and wanted to complain to someone about something, I’d be likely to look for a “contact us” page rather than click a report button that I don’t really know what it means.
Actually, I think I prefer that people have to be logged in to report items. Less chance of someone childishly reporting their competition over and over again for no good reason if they have to do it in their own name.

The other thread seems to be locked so I’m going to ask this here:
What the HELL is wrong with people? First there were death threads against iInterrobang and now this.
It makes me sick because I can’t just throw my hands up and say “I hate people”, there are too many, many good people out there. But geezly, I’m just about to that point.
If anybody has ANY idea of why anyone would act that way, please send me a convo.
