E-mail Auto Reply Now In Effect

Although there’s no official announcement in either the Etsy fora or the Storque, members have verified that the e-mail auto-reply system is finally up and running. Now, when members attempt to reply to a convo through the duplicate e-mail, they will get a warning message via immediate auto-reply.

Thanks go out to dottyral for the heads-up and for providing the content of the auto-reply message:

This is fabulous! Thank you admin!

I like that it explains just how to reply. This is the auto reply I received right away…

I had to read this 5 times before it started to make sense, and it still does not. It makes me laugh because the International Sellers make good points about being ignored———–but even those of us with english as our primary language no longer understand what Etsy write, says, posts, and announces with 5,000 or more words when it could have been said in 150. They certainly have an uncanny knack to take plain ecommerce business language and turn it into mumbo jumbo.
This also explains why new sellers ask very basic questions all the time; it takes months to adapt to Etsy-speak, and even then, we sellers get easily confused. Did the Etsy employees ever take a writing for business course? Because they sure need to set up a Virtual Lab and HAVE ONE or ten or twenty.

Well, thank God for UEN. I had no idea about this, and it’s a good change (though, as the last poster in the thread points out, it might be even more foolproof to eliminate the text of convos from email notifications, so that there’s no question how to reply to the message.
