Etsy is experiencing unexpected downtime as of approximately 2:45pm EST. It appears all parts of the site are affected, including the Storque.
Update: As of 3:40pm EST, Etsy is back online.
Update: 3:58pm EST, Etsy is offline again.
Update: Back up and here’s the explanation!
Update by JB: More explanation of the downtime in this Storque article
UPDATE :: The cause of the issue appears to have stemmed from a mechanical failure on one of our firewalls. Our backup firewall kicked in, but was not fully configured for the sudden shift in traffic. Haim and Dusten are now getting both firewall machines back up to speed to get us back to 100%.

It looks like the downtime was the result of firewall failure.

If this downtime is a result of some April Fools joke gone bad, that’s utterly annoying.
I like harmless April fools jokes on websites, Google does great ones every year. I was even joking with Robwhite about some potential ones Etsy could do. Putting “waffles” in the top menu would be funny. But not if it takes the whole bloody site down!

Ooh, HeartandDart, I be there will be a veritable FLOOD of new listings when the site finally stabilizes. Might want to wait a bit or you’ll get lost in the crowd!

You guys are making me hungry again with all of this talk about waffles. Guess I’ll go eat, create something, and check Etsy again later.
Bye for now!

Right now I am almost feeling relieved. I am going to go do something else and hope I can keep myself from peeking for the rest of the day. I need another Etsy vacation.
