Still waiting waiting waiting for the results of this Big Meeting? Waiting………
Don’t read the news on Etsy anymore (who can find any actual news?) or forums because of a personal encounter and they have deteriorated to the point where now I read in UEN that new behavior rules are being invented. As if that will make a difference. If it removes the roving band of thread bashers who gang up on honest to goodness question-askers, then that would be a good thing, but monkey see monkey do, and the standards are not being raised to a higher level by the host site itself!
Discussion boards, if run with respect & value for the community, actually run themselves - they don’t need petty rules. The comments and behavior in the forums has gotten so repulsive that they should just be closed down. Setting rules, and ridiculous they always are, means the boards aren’t working. Something is wrong at the core.

re: no posting in the same thread
ach! sometimes i start writing a post, then life happens and i get back to post it 5 minutes later and the thread has moved on several pages. it would be impossible verging on the paranoid to keep up with a no contact contract with the previous restrictions IMO
not talking about the other party, even veiled talking about, hints, innuendo, aspersions, dark mutterings, comment, etc as i’ve witnessed recently - is still a good intelligent idea which should be intelligently followed by both parties

Naturally, two parties with a history of disputes with eachother will each have different opinions on whose “fault” is that dispute. I think Matt’s admission that the muting was unwarranted is probably the most impartial assessment of the situation, and the issue is thankfully resolved and sellers can get back to selling and promoting.
I am also glad to hear Etsy is dropping the “no posting in the same thread rule”, as it’s very impractical to follow in threads which are 100 pages or more, and it unfairly restricts people from posting in important threads where Etsy asks for member’s votes or input, and the big promo threads like SNS. I think as long as both parties avoid talking to eachother or about eachother, they should be allowed to post in the same thread as long as they ignore eachother.
I definitely think the “no talking about eachother” rule should be retained, and enforced.

And now, without going further into why this contract was started in the first place (thank god for convos) as it is none too flattering to you, I bid you all a good night, and without further ado, here ends my short stint at UEN. Everyone have a great night.
