New warning on forum posting pages

The “post a new topic” pages in the Help forum and Bugs forum have been edited to include a large warning.

Hey you!

Yes, YOU!

Are you posting a thread about view counts?

If so, please read this post in the Storque for the latest news about them.

Be sure to keep your eye on the “News” link at the top of the page for the latest announcements.

Thank you!

Edit 02-24-08 11:41 EST:

After several threads protesting the words of this statement, it has been changed:

RevolvingDork says:
I’m sorry if anyone was offended by the usage of “Hey you!” — we honestly didn’t think it would be construed as rude.

In response to your concerns, I’ve changed the notice to be a bit less colloquial.

Thanks!

I got carried away but in real life 50% nonrefundable deposit serves to buy supplies on a custom project.fo realz!
In real life (again) a shop with 1000 sales a year at 6$ a pop would not be a succesfull seller making a living .I come from eastern europe where a college graduate full time job is 500$ a month and even there it would be stretch.(I skip the threads look at me I’m succesfull because I have this many sales.no you have too many PO trips .)
i hate the dualism on etsy’s part.
real income is generated by supplies sellers.(check etsy tools)
etsy crafters love buying from etsy suppliers because they cater to specific small needs.
etsy administration fails to aknowledge supplies sellers as the backbone of etsy and keep giving us the example of succesful sellers in wide eyed sensitive artists fresh out of college who make a living doing what they love.
FINE! sell the dream but stop treating suppliers and vintage as second class citizens if you need them. This attitude trickles to the members who exhibit contempt towards the very suppliers they buy from. What is wrong with this picture?

Yes, these new DXO rules are quite…ahem…..interesting. It’s like playing Rule Bingo.

    “Two little ducks, twenty two”
    “Legs eleven”
    “Eff you, you’re banned, six”

I think you just need to own a Michaels store and you will have enough supplies on hand to not be breaking Danielle’s new “rule”.

I trust Rob White too.He has an ingrate job but he does it well.He closes many threads without giving too much info but I’ve never seen him losing it.
Stella was consistently polite too ,even though sometimes she was repeating the same unrelevant piece of dos and donts ,instead of actually answering a particular quastion.I can understand she has to be careful what she is writing down and I respect that .
danielle was giving us rules on the spot
I still can’t figure out where the :have supplies at hand for custom orders RULE came from. Insane.I had a custom order:”make me something meaningful for my new house.”after a week of thinking about it I used tree bark.According to Danielle I should stock up on tree bark before I accept another custom order.I’m a potter,I draw I print,I make installation art ,jewelry and photos.I knit and sew.what should I stock up on first? Thank god alchemy is gone and with it all the silly people who actually wanted to work with me on custom orders one on one .:P

Yet one more example of hour Etsy does something idiotic before thinking.

“Hey You” doesn’t *offend* me but it is pretty pathetic. Just proves that Etsy refuses to learn from mistakes….or grow up.

As for Daniellexo being a forum moderator. Well, at least Rob White is still around. HE is the epitome of what a forum moderator should be, level-headed, professional, considerate of members, able to be tough without being an arse, informative. I trust what HE says.

Neutrals don’t count, either for or against you.

Would that they directed that zero tolerance energy to something constructive toward something with even more potential to damage Etsy, mass produced, non-handmade products.

They can’t be remaining on the site because of the fear of lost revenue, they’ve already established they have no qualms getting rid of a top seller who brings in a steady stream of income to them. They can’t be allowing them to remain because they haven’t heard back from them, because Etsy has well established that they shoot first and ask questions later…maybe. They can’t be allowing them to remain because the offenders have a good excuse/reason because Etsy has already established that they don’t really listen to their sellers or believe them anyway.

The only thing I can think of that would allow them to remain is that they don’t come to the forums. They don’t form friendships with admin or anyone else visible on the site to stay under the radar. They are a blip in on the screen amongst thousands of other blips. Let them come to the forums and be vocal about something and I am willing to bet they’d be under immediate scrutiny.

Okay, I have the stupidest question regarding the feedback from Danielle’s “secret” shop…

    http://www.etsy.com/feedback_public.php?user_id=5351823

This shows 7 transactions…two neutral no receipt of merchandise and 5 positive…

How in the hell does that equal…5, 100% positive for a rating? Shouldn’t that be 7, xx% for a rating instead?

That just strikes me as totally bogus.
