In this thread, Etsy lawyer Sarah Feingold announces the launch of the much-anticipated ‘Trademark Permissions Program’.
SarahSays says:
Now you can apply to get official permission to use the word “Etsy,” Etsy’s logo, and other marks in your awesome handmade items! I have been talking about this program and now it’s up and running.
Please check out my Storque article for more information!
Thanks!

Alicia, yes, you’ve hit it on the head! I couldn’t put that down into words though I was certainly thinking just that while reading Sarah’s e-mail. Last year, Rokali and Matt thought that the Market was a grand idea, encouraged me and even said in a teams workshop that they would help undertake advertising costs. Now, all of that smoke is a blown point because more users want to take advantage of that?
*head explodes*
Don’t make promises you aren’t willing to keep in the long run… Lesson learned.

Taking into account what andy said, if they really don’t want to sponsor street teams events because then every street team would want their endorsement then it’s really not fair! So only EtsyLabs based shows or fairs are “Etsy”…all of the sellers everywhere but Brooklyn (or those ho go to extraordinary lengths to ship their stuff there and/or fly in) can take part in an Etsy-only show?! Street team events can’t say they’re Etsy street teams?! That is absolutely ridiculous! For 2 years these people have been spending time and money advertising Etsy!!
Now I understand life isn’t fair, that Etsy has no obligation whatsoever because they’re a business, and that they have to have limits financially…but it’s just not right to use these groups and people, to make promises and connections, and then dash them to the side. The street teams ARE Etsy…the admin have pushed them as a way for sellers to help one another. What the hell is going on?
grrrr }:(

Andy, yes it was. I know we don’t need Etsy to make it successful, but after all the enthusiasm they showed last year towards the event, and being that in a workshop, they encouraged events like the Market and said they would help pay for Advertising costs… its just not an encouraging move. Its also run by the Street Team here in Charlotte.
Alicia, that’s exactly it. I don’t buy their reasoning. I can understand the reasoning say, if this was a brand new event, and we had no intention of bringing Etsy as a major player in the event, but that wasn’t true.
