It will now take you two clicks to reach the Etsy fora. Etsy has removed the ‘Forums’ link in the main menu bar at the top of each page. Instead, a new link reads ‘Community’ (circled in red below) and takes you to a new page of links and info where ‘Forums’ is the first in a series of six clickable graphics including ‘Virtual Labs’, ‘Chat’, ‘Team’, ‘The Storque’, and ‘Resources’.
Note that the menu bar reference to The Storque has changed as well - now the link says simply ‘News’.

Also on this new page is a left menu bar filled with a variety of links to info of use or interest to the Etsy community, and a rotating Storque feed below the main graphic links (not pictured).
UPDATE by GreenMamba
The Etsy main navigation bar is undergoing a series of changes. The latest is the removal of the ‘Gift Guides’ link. Here is what stellaloella had to say about it:
stellaloella says:
Gift Guides have been moved to a sidebar link on the homepage. You can also find them linked under the Buy tab.

and
(Since I can’t say this directly as I was sworn to secrecy, I’ll use a metaphor.)
We’re moving the furniture around to make room for a brand new sofa. A really big awesome new sofa that’s been on back order. And we’re really excited about this sofa. You will be too. I’m sure of it. ;)Posted at 11:02 am, January 22 2008 EST

Well, the things have been out of the way for days and we have the living room cleared out… where is this sofa? What are the deliverers doing, anyway? I thought it was ready?

And THAT will be more of a surprise to the Etsy staff than it will to us.
Unfortunately I think their lower ranking staff are the only ones who don’t see this coming. Considering the stock market dive, I hope everyone has their feelers out for other opportunities.

Wow, I’m enjoying this non-existant sofa so much.
Quite a masterpiece of timing.

“Oooh, maybe the next surprise will be they’ve been bought out!”
But, they won’t tell anyone when it happens because that would be considered “spam”. It will probably take a month after it happens for them to pull together some flash announcment or storque article to let everyone know!

And, no, the Storque isn’t news. It should be called ‘magazine’ which is more accurate. Only a very small portion of it is actually news.
——————————————————————-
The Squawk is constantly offered up by Admin as the place to go to read up on all the hot topics. I would like to know what is *going to* happen, not what has *already* happened.
Etsy seems determined to keep their users in the dark and only alert them to information they already know about. Generally giving little additional clarity to the issue.
If The Squawk is so popular, why is Admin constantly posting links to it in the forums as a way of offering information? And if the forums are only visited by 2% of members, why give them the links seeing as they are already proactive on the site? I mean, if your most site-active members are not visiting your little magazine project, doesn’t that tell you something?????
For some bizarre reason it runs like this:
1. Admin makes a change
2. Members ask WTF is going on
3. Admin writes a Squawk article
4. Admin posts links to the article in the forums
Someone needs to take Customer Relations 101….asap

Ah, Stella, another non-nothing-who knows what you’re talking about post in the Forums, she’s not as fun anymore as the NEW employee they have running amok on all the Forum sections!
Esty has never been about supporting the stores; we are just a revenue stream to fund all the other labs, workshops, cute newsletter promoting their friends and family, and odd, really odd “picks” in 100% of the “Etsy Emails.” I blocked those from my Inbox.
Moving Gift Guides within the site was a big mistake; it should be tossed in the garbage. Bunching all their pets into “Community” is another insult to sellers, and, spending all that employee time on personal little pet projects that have NOTHING to do with helping stores sell is, well, how Etsy has been operating from the start.
The sellers and stores are not the focus of Etsy, they never will be. We just help pay all those salaries, benefits, office space, lab supplies, digital cameras, and little writing projects that somehow are thought worthy enough to publish online!!!
I say, bring on the change Esty!!!!!! Surprise us again!!!!! What can they possibly think up next?
