Today the Etsy fora were unfortunately subjected to a very offensive thread, which was quickly deleted by admin along with several other threads discussing it.
Admin also deleted the user account, but the user was apparently still able to post for several minutes after the “brick wall” appeared in their account.
RevolvingDork commented on the issue here:
RevolvingDork says:
There was no hacking involved, but it can take a few minutes for a user ban to fully propegate through the whole system. They’re fully gone now, however.

They should have hired Whorse (the hacker/sock puppet) to work on the search function.

Wow I missed that drama. Threads offensive enough to actually delete instead of locking? Where they critical of Etsy admins? I’ve seen so many offensive and libelous threads NOT deleted.

JB, the thread was titled with a racist epithet. Genuinely worthy of deletion, I’d say.

I spotted the first one just after it was posted - and yes it was offensive enough to delete. Foul-mouthed racist comments, trolling for a reaction pretty much sums it up. No redeeming features of any sort. I don’t know where it went after that first post, I had to go back to work. If I’d had time, I would have reported it but I knew that someone would, right-quick.

Ew that does sound bad. I wonder why they don’t have a swear filter on certain words like that. They have filters on the chatrooms, which is ironic because they aren’t as visible or as permanent as the forums. If anything it should be the other way around- filter the forums and not the chatrooms.

If they can filter ‘bump’, you’d think…

Wow, I missed the entire thing . . .

Me too soap. I think we Californians miss a LOT of the morning drama that happens in earlier time zones! Back when locks were visible, I’d usually get online each day and see all the trainwrecks I had missed.

i was there during the second thread after they were supposedly already deleted.. they posted at least another five times and there were multiple threads alerting admin to that fact..
it didnt seem like a time lag, it seemed like this dude beat the system

combustion, I agree. I was there for the second and subsequent threads as well. I would feel sorry for that individual if their subject matter wasn’t so disgusting. Whoever it was REALLY needs help.
