EtsyTools is back

After some downtime, EtsyTools has returned!

For those unfamiliar with the site, EtsyTools is an unofficial statistics-gathering site that uses API streams from Etsy.com to gather and display pertinent information for users. They are unaffiliated with Etsy and run by two Etsy members, Interrobang and Vertis.

If anyone is interested you can now click on the categories on the ‘Daily Sales by Category’ chart and it will take you to a chart showing the top tags for that category of all the sold items for the last 24 hours. Click and see ;)

This is a brilliant and useful addition! It’s not just useful for tagging your items for the best odds, but to see generally what sells best in a category. For example, I clicked on the Jewelry pie wedge, and while “silver” was the 4th most-used tag on sold jewellery items (363), gold was way back at 26th (96). So on that day, silver jewellery outsold gold jewellery by over 3.5x! Very interesting.

my internet love for vertis knows no bounds. I love the top tags for sold items in categories. It surprised me to see that necklaces was the top tag for jewelry. I’m not a necklace person, so I tend to forget that other people like them and buy them. The one thing I wish was possible was knowing the tag overlap. A good example is the earring vs. earrings tag. I’m assuming some of those numbers refer to the same item (I’m guilty myself as I use both tags), so it’d be interesting to know what the ‘true’ number was. However, compound stats (i.e. top selling item had the tags earring, blue, silver) would probably be quite a pickle to aggregate, so I wouldn’t dream of asking for it!

Otherwise, great update. I miss the hourly comparison and the daily graphs, but I think he mentioned in that thread of getting those up sometime soon. Awesome job vertis!

    Fabulous!

    I’d missed the site.

It took me a second to figure out the new features, but it is certainly better than ever! Congrats to the etsytools folks.

that’s realy cool how you can see the breakdown by categories, and the tags in the categories. I am a little shocked that supplies are 30% of sales, but I rarely browse the sold items in the time machine.

Etsy- your place to buy supplies to make handmade items.
