reported in the Storque article here
We are very excited to announce the launch of our very own Etsy-centric list service: Etsy Email! We’ve got all the latest news, tips, finds, and team info rolled into one place and delivered safely to your email inbox, if you so choose! You can up sign up through the icon on the homepage or through this link.
This ain’t spam, y’all. This is strictly opt-in, coming from us Etsy admin personally to you, shoppers and sellers! We won’t be sharing, selling or otherwise disrespecting your private info. You won’t even know who else has subscribed. You’ll be able to opt-out at any time, if you so choose.
Look for the icon on the homepage of Etsy, right above the BuyHandmade.org Pledge!
There are actually 4 separate email lists:
1. “Etsy News emails”
2. “Etsy Finds emails”
3. “Etsy Success emails”
4. “Etsy Teams emails”

I got the success email newsletter today, it’s just four truncated Storque articles from last week with links to the longer Storque article.
The links are mostly broken though…the links to the full Storque articles are broken and just take you back to the top of the email.
bad formatting…

(the same problem was in the “News” email)
The last of the 4 mini-articles has the wrong title and wrong link, the article is actually about tiered pricing but the title and links lead to the “success story” profile of AshleyG. (which is also the third mini-article)
Overall, very confusing and needs more proofreading!

I thought the newscast from last week or whenever was somewhat insane. I’m glad they’re having fun, but um… what is the target age range? 10-14 years? I think they should keep in mind they’re not making an ‘art’ video, the idea is to make a professional communication to customers and prospective customers.

I got “Finds” this morning. …OK
I got “News” this evening ……. unimpressed! All old news. I sat thru the dreadful newscast too …. ugh, or maybe I’m just too desperately old to ‘get it’.
I’d love to know where Rob is getting his stats for showcases being a success from.

I got the news email, at around 7 PM, Brooklyn time. It’s more of a summary of last week’s news than anything brand spanking new, but for people who don’t want to read the Storque, it could be useful.
The 5 “news” items were:
1. New Ways to Shop
UEN covered this issue here
2. New Partnership
UEN covered this issue here
3. Site Changes
UEN covered this issue here
4.Newsworthy
Etsy in the press -Etsy was mentioned in a New York Times article today, November 15, 2007. Read the piece, Tinkering at Home, Selling on the Web, here.
5. Etsy Stats

I signed up for Finds to see what it looks like.
They are using constant contact, but without the double opt in sign up. Constant contact keeps it non-spam compliant.
I think buyers will like it. Great photos will be a requirement, to be eligible, and it probably will seem like the same people are featured over and over.
