Schoollocker, (first HI! and plz post more puppy pictures!) and second, that is a completely valid way to use this site- just read the top article and not the comments. I do that myself with many news blogs. If time is limited or someone just wants the facts and not the opinions, that’s probably the best way to use it. But everyone does have opinions so we try to provide a place for that too. There’s more than one way to use the site, all are equally valid. :-)

I’m one of those lurkers, both here and on the Etsy fora, and I sincerely thank you all for putting this site together. ;)
So, I was looking for a particular thread over there that had mentioned the UEN and was blown away by how many gold locks are in that search.
Um, probably near half? Maybe more? Not going to speculate about it…no, I’m just sayin’.

dyno, I believe a lot of those statements were made when inaccurate info from the comments on UEN were quoted in the Etsy fora. And people quoting them site the UEN for more information. Again, most of the time they are referring to the comments here.
I don’t think Stella’s announcement was casual and meaningless in timing either, but I think it is totally fair for her to do so at this time.

you don’t need to be embarrassed for posting.
First, Etsy has made repeated posts implying the UEN is an unreliable and untrustworthy source, pointedly stating “don’t believe everything you read on the UEN” and reminding people (unnecessarily) that Etsy is the only official source. The latest post stating the storque is the official news isn’t just some casual or meaningless one-off post. When you look at it in the context of the other similar posts Etsy has made, including *when and where* those prior statements were posted it appears that Etsy is trying to discredit the UEN as a valid news option.
Second, the comment was made here that the people here are “anti-Etsy”, which is a charged and generally inaccurate term.
Given those two things I can understand the editors and others wanting to respond to defend and clarify their actions.
