We plan to launch at noon today because of technical difficulties…and I took down the blog post so people wouldn’t get confused/angry about the link not working. Two hours to go!

Amanda, you can subscribe purely to the ‘news’ RSS feed in The Storque. That’s what I’ve done as that’s the only essential reading there IMO.
Although I still think UEN will be at least as important if not quite a lot more - especially as Admin replies in threads not started by them are still impossible to see at a glance.

i dipped into it and out again - it’s really as previously said, another magazine subscription that i will read if i have the time (ho ho ho)
it has a very warm community and cliquey feel, i’m sure it will become a staple for the crafty community who have the time to read it. i’ll keep dipping in to see if there is important info re: competitions, advertising opportunities, promo stuff, etc but it won’t be as vital as UEN or EtsyTools for me.

I really thought the main focus of The Storque was going to be important news and information, which sounds excellent and much-needed.
But the news is buried far down in the navigation list and towards the bottom of the screen in the main part of the page. That’s disappointing. It should surely be the number one priority on that page. And it should be all real, important site news, IMO.

“JB said,
They STILL need an admin announcements forum on the forums.”
I couldn’t agree more.
Unfortunately, they (admin) are the ones who need to agree.
And they just don’t want to, apparently.

“Under TechUpdates, there were two entries - one about the new item categories and another about the Geo3. Nothing about the disappearing views, or the security certificate warnings, etc.”
I think the ‘tech news’ will only report on new features or bugs after they have been fixed, because that is more “positive” news and reflects well on Etsy. They aren’t going to be posting about current unfixed bugs, or the bugs they deny are bugs. The Storque is run by the marketing dept., it’s a promotional tool, so obviously they don’t want a bunch of bugs listed there or info about unplanned downtime, etc.
They STILL need an admin announcements forum on the forums.

As I’ve already posted, I’m trying to maintain an optimistic *wait & see* attitude about The Storque & am hopeful it will deliver the necessary information in one easy-to-find location.
However …
On the opening page of The Storque, I would really like to see a *News Flash* heading where the inevitable site technical difficulties or downtimes would be addressed.

The Storque is a kind of super-blog. Like the Etsy Garden on Miracle-Gro. I like it. It’s a cool spot for all sorts of artsy-craftsy articles and how-tos and shout-outs. Has a great global-community feel. As far as e-zines go, it’s really interesting and visually appealing.
But . . .
I don’t think it’s gonna deliver as a news source for technical issues, bugs, etc. The info is not as easy to find as it ought to be, and because of the layout, it is very easy to be distracted away from any truly important site updates. Under TechUpdates, there were two entries - one about the new item categories and another about the Geo3. Nothing about the disappearing views, or the security certificate warnings, etc.
Looks like ‘tech news’ will be treated like all other blog entries, instead of giving members an up-to-the-minute place for official admin posts. We’ll still have to dig those li’l nuggets out of the fora ourselves.
