It seems to me they would be much better off getting a tech firm to find someone with the right credentials rather than trying to hire someone that’s a friend of an etsy user.

Oh, but they seem to base their whole hiring process on hiring friends!

This is more in line with what Corporate America offers its employees for finding someone. But a recruiter would work better and get the job done faster.

I don’t understand why they’ve been having so much trouble finding qualified employees. The notice has been up for months. There have been plenty of postings in the forums about issues and how to fix them, and I remember someone even posted their resume. Aren;t they applying for the job? I would hope they are also advertising the positions through prefessional organizations besides just in the Etsy jobs link.

I actually believe they are using recruiters, etc., but are looking for people with VERY specific skills - and don’t forget, they have to SHINE! :)

The drastic increase of the reward makes me think that they are desperate…which frightens me.

They are desperate, no doubt. But look at it this way - at least they’re not so clueless as to not know how badly they need help. (I hope that made sense.) In other words, at least they know they’re in bad enough shape to be desperate.
