Etsy Admin says:
“A real problem is how to get some exposure for new folks. ”A new feature called Fresh Shops should be launching soon. It’s specifically targeted to help new sellers at Etsy and spotlight up and coming artists.
I can’t give any dates, but development is underway. :)

Hmmm, I guess I won’t be a “new” or “fresh” shop by then. What to do for those that weren’t here from the beginning yet won’t be considered “new” ? Ah well.

It’s like middle child syndrome at it’s worst. We (a collective we.) aren’t successful enough to be top sellers, and not new enough to be “fresh” sellers. We are just … there.
That said, I’m excited to see it, nonetheless.

Well, they took away all indications of top sellers, so it’s not even like Middle Child syndrome. More like we’re the starter wives. ;)
Of course, we could always open extra shops for each genre of items we create and hope that our divided selves are picked up on as “Fresh.”

Ooooh Kate, you’re so right… they did get rid of the Top Sellers. (Silly move, btw. I loved looking at the Top Sellers… gave me something to work towards..)
Starter wives… I love it.

A real problem is how to get exposure full stop, not just the new shops!
Is there anyone at the “top” who really understands one iota of what selling on Etsy is like? It is almost as if as soon as you become Etsy admin you stop thinking like a seller and toe the corporate line.
Decent search functions and appropriate tags would be helpful - not another self-advertising feature (and yes, if it does go ahead then ebbandfibre will be going ahead …)
(on the second thoughts anything but ebbandrecognisable would be a more constructive way for this particular marked seller to make progress)
;)

Such BS… what about the shops that have been on Etsy for about a year now and are still struggling? Yes, like mine. And I’ve spent the past year promoting Etsy via 2 street teams. Etsy’s priorities are messed up.
