Crosswinds, I imagine. :)
We wrote an extensive post about the announcement of The Storque, Etsy’s newsletter, back in April.
However, Vanessa (Etsy PR/Marketing) says it will be delayed:
Vanessa says:
yes, see this blog post:
http://blog.etsy.com/?p=245Turns out it’s more complicated than we thought to make an online newspaper…But the Storque will be landing sometime this summer.

It amazes me how one company can manage to miss EVERY SINGLE DEADLINE they set for themselves…

The storque is not high on my priority list so this isn’t a big deal to me, (because even when it’s done I don’t expect it to have the kind of hard news I need, it’s going to be promo puff news) but the frustrating part is that they choose to do something the hard way when it would take 5 minutes to create an admin announcement forum at the etsy forums.

Right. They said it would be even better than an announcement forum, and we kept being told that it was coming soon, so stop pushing for sticky threads, announcement boards, etc.

JB,
Yeah, the storque would be at the BOTTOM of my etsy priority list… I find it highly amusing though, that it’s been pushed back.

Not that there’s anything bad about promo puff news. Promotion is good for all our business. I didn’t mean it to sound like promotion is worthless. But the storque will not fill the need we all have of not being able to find factual info, the need that UEN serves and which could easily be served by an admin forum on etsy.

Exactly. I love fluff just as much as everyone else. Love the seller shout outs, love the Etsy Labs news… But that’s stuff I don’t NEED to know.. just fun stuff. I’d rather see a “IMPORTANT INFO HERE!” forum… simple as that.

more complicated than they thought?
perhaps etsy needs a million more monkeys on a million more comadore 64’s to create the code for this “online newspaper.”
… or they could just buy/use an out of the box application.
