Confused About Your Online vs. Email Bills? You’re Not The Only One.

This issue is actually too complicated for me to summarize here. It has to do with emails differing from online bills and actual charges. Go, read. :)

why is etsy emailing incorrect bills?

RD does respond in a few places.

EDIT:

Here he agrees that the billing system is confusing:

RevolvingDork says:
We are working on a revision of the billing system to make it easier to understand, as we know that this can be confusing behavior. In the meantime, refunds will cause your bills to be regenerated with all outstanding charges every time they are issued.

And to a response about when changes might be expected…

Why do some emails only cover a few days worth of billing?

RevolvingDork says:
soap, the emails are sent out according to the currently available account information. If your charge information changes between one bill and the next, the old email cannot be updated, as it was already sent. You are, however, sent a notification email every time you receive a refund, which alerts you that your bill has been changed and suggests that you check your live bill.

As I said before, we are working on refining the system and are aware that this behavior is not ideal.

There’s a lot of important discussion in that thread. I’ve given some highlights, but it’s very important that you go and read it.

Also, don’t forget that Rokali/Rob (Etsy President) recently asked for input on the billing page. Now seems like a good time to add your thoughts…

    straight from etsy:

How am I billed for fees associated with selling?
When you sign up as a seller, we require that you keep a valid credit card on file. This card will be automatically billed between the 15th and 22nd of each month for all of your previous month’s fees. At the end of each month we will email you an invoice detailing all the charges. Then we’ll wait 15 days to actually run the charges, in case you have any questions. For example, if I were a seller, on May 31st I’d receive an email with all the fees I incurred during the month of May. Then, my card would be charged once for the sum total of all these fees between June 15th and June 22nd. During each month fees are “queued” to be charged, and you may view this queue at any time under Your Etsy > Your Etsy bill. You can also pay your fees any time after a bill is issued by going to: Your Etsy > Your Etsy bill.

EDIT - I just added the color to the phrase highlighted above.

Is it just me or does it seem like he’s not understanding soap’s question?
she’s not expecting the old email she already received to change, she’s just wondering why the new bill does not start the day after the old bill ended. i.e. why is there a gap.
It doesn’t seem like that has really been answered.

He’s either being deliberately obtuse or he IS obtuse. In either case, I wasn’t amused which is why I was pretty persistent on that thread. There is NO reason for the date ranges/amounts on the emailed bills not to match the same info when people login.

And fer the love of Pete, why must they keep saying they will auto-charge when it hasn’t happened since 2006?

After reading what has been posted on that thread, what has me worried is the process doesn’t seem to be automated or at least consistent - some people have bills on their etsy accounts for each month, I am missing April entirely, and date ranges for any given month seem to vary from person to person.
