No to Google Checkout

From this thread:

RevolvingDork says:
We don’t currently have any plans to integrate google checkout.

The service has a number of serious drawbacks currently, the most glaring of which is a lack of international support. We wouldn’t want to leave our international buyers high and dry.

We do, however, have other plans to make the checkout process easier that we hope to be able to detail in the coming months.

why would google checkout leave international buyers out, couldn’t they continue to use paypal?

That’s weird. I think people meant to add it as a second option, not to replace paypal with google.

Maybe RD meant that google checkout is not available to sellers internationally. So far it is only available in the UK and USA, not Canada and Europe (please correct me if I’m wrong).

but yes, international buyers can continue to use PayPal or credit cards thru PayPal

and as a second choice it would be awesome (even if I can’t use it as a seller myself)

amanda–you’re right, UK ans USA sellers only, but Google is available to buyers in 145 countries, and they are working to expand their availability. And Rita is right too–there’s no reason that folks who can’t use Goolgel Checkout couldn’t continue to use PP.

Since most sellers are from the US, it seems reasonable that they could add Google Checkout to keep PP from having a monopoly on the money handling for Etsy, and to save sellers from the additional fees.
