Auto-Billing Not Working, Yet Again

In an email sent to sellers (Edit: being sent in batches over the weekend), Etsy says:

Dear Etsy Sellers,

Due to a delay in the setup of our new credit card processor, Etsy bills will not be auto-charged this month. If you wish, you can manually process your unpaid Etsy bill by logging into your Etsy account and visiting Your Etsy -> Your Etsy Bill. There is a link to pay unpaid bills at the bottom of the page.

Due to this delay, no lateness penalties will be issued for any sellers until after the next billing period.

Next month, all unpaid bills will be auto-charged between the 15th and 27th. Be sure to check the remaining balance of your list of unpaid bills to ensure you’ll be ready for the charges.

We apologize for the inconvenience! The new payment service we are installing will allow us to expand Etsy into new, exciting directions that have previously not been possible. We’ll release more details about these possibilities in the coming months.

Thank you for making Etsy what it is!

-The Etsy Team

Bills stopped being autocharged sometime early in the year (March 27). Then Etsy said April bills would be autocharged (April 5). Now, apparently, those bills will not be autocharged.

If you’re a seller, check your bills, so you don’t get an ugly surprise.

Edit: Also, there is no specific mention of “lateness penalties” anywhere on the Etsy site - not the TOU, the FAQs, the D&Ds, or the Fees page. There is a sentence in the D&D about accounts being suspended until overdue bills are paid, but it’s not clear that’s to what the email refers, since “penalties” is plural. So clarification would be nice.

(Thanks to Cindy/StarryDesigns and others for the heads-up.)

Okay, I’ve had no bill emailed to me and nothing about auto-pay not working. And, no, I have no spam filters which move things out of my sight. I also manage my own hosting so I do absolutely know for sure that there’s not a filter somewhere along the line.

JB - I got the one about the latest bill being auto-paid but never got the one about auto-pay not working either.

I still haven’t gotten that email, but i did just get my etsy bill. just a normal bill that doesn’t mention anything about the past months not being charged.

You may view or pay this bill at any time by logging into Etsy and going to Your Etsy > Money > Bills.

If you do nothing, your bill will be automatically charged $XXX between the 15th and 22nd of May, 2007 to your credit card on file

If I remember correctly, I got several emails when my creditcard expired (around the same time as Kate was talking about)… the last one gave a date for suspension if I didn’t update it, so I did and there was no problem… things were working much more smoothly back then.

I haven’t received any such email, either, although I did receive the Do’s and Don’ts message. Alas.

Not on earthlink, still haven’t received it. I do get all my other etsy emails like convos, sales notifications, I got the email about the Do’s and Dont’s. So I don’t think this would go into junk mail when no other etsy emails do that.

The suspension took place about a year ago, so I don’t know if that’s a policy they still adhere to. I remember noticing one of the suspended parties because s/he was on the Top Sellers list (back when that existed. sigh.) and suddenly disappeared.

I’m user 8541 - received the email. If you’re on earthlink, earthlink might have caught it as “spam” before you read it. Everyone should whitelist billing@etsy.com and move the filter to the top of the list. I hope that helps.

Suspension is the only penalty (singular) I heard of previously.
